Just something to share :)

Canterbury City Centre

There are a lot of things to see at the City Centre if you make time to do so. I had a very quiet, peaceful and interesting day last Saturday when I decided to go to the City Centre and explore it...and here I have some photos to share :)

This pic above is one of the nice view at the City Cenre..if im not mistaken...the beautiful dark brown building is the Information Centre .

And opposite of this building...where you can see the green stuff to the right of the picture above is...........

STARBUCKS COFFEE...:)

I've drank my raspberry on my second day in London... yummy!!

Next to Starbucks is the famous Canterbury Cathedral.. i think belong to the Anglican or sth like that.

On the day I 'explored' the City...there were quite a lot of people queueing inside to take a tour round it.

Unfortunately, I've missed my chance for the free tour during the Orientation... thanks to the Accomodation Office. But hopefully will tour it before the end of my course at the university.

CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL

Sorry for the imperfect picture of one of the Canterbury Cathedral..haha...didnt realize its 'biyut' rupanya. haha.

And as you can see below, there are also shops that will capture the interest of the modern and sophisticated yet domesticated women... ;p

This is a shop called J.E.M.S ...and it is where all the cross-stitches, strings of different sixe, texture and colours are sold...from green to blue to brown to whatever. Besides cross stitch, they also sell hand made sweater, scraves, etc...oh, and floor mat...just like the ones Aunty and I were taught to do arah the class jahitan every Friday morning last year (the colourful one..if anyone remembers).

And they also give services to fix ur sewing machine and you can also ask help on how to do or sew things. If im not mistaken, they also sell small coloured beads to be made into a bracelet or necklace etc. Pokoknya, they manage to put in alot of barang into this small shop...:)

And the pic below is the Tapestry Shop (the one with the red label). There are amazingly lots of gorgeous tapestries displayed on the shelf. Ada tablecloth, cushions, one of those that can be hang or pinned to the wall. And on that day, most of the items was on sale up to 50%... but the cheapest was 55 pounds.

This shop is kewl bcoz the owner is a Brazilian man.. he must be around his late 40s but you can tell he was once a handsome lad coz even now, in his old age he still looks good..apart from the parut and beard..haha... but the most catchy part is his accent...its just so lawa... makes u just want to browse around longer...hahahaha...capi!! ;)

Kak meng, this is Winnie the Pooh Shop... if kakak masuk, there will definitely more than 5 items you would want to buy..haha.. I dont even know where to start looking the other day. Must be coz Im already tired. ;)

Its just a small shop... inside there are loads soft toys...not only Winnie the Pooh, but ada jua c Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, Owl, Rabbit..etc...ada bookmark, cards, if im not mistaken stickers...etc..macam promotion pulang saya ani..haha.

And kak nana, the next post I'm going to make is all for you..hehe.. so braise yourself. Inda pulang banyak the pics that I took for you, but I guess its sufficient enough to make you 'bekirik' in your sleep...hehehe...

Ok then, I think thats all for now. I want to eat sahur and go to sleep.Plans for tomorrow is to nag the Housing Agent when can I move in.. I want to be in my new room before next weeks lecture starts... there are already a lot of things needed to be read.. and i need to settle down before the workload starts to suffocate me ;)

Takecare all - hugs -

And kak meng, I've found a shop called Winnie the Pooh...and everything inside is all about her..haha... kewl ler... I've taken some pics of these as well..but I will only post it nanti ah...hehe.. now the pics are not ready to be downloaded.

Bruneians studying at Kent University or at the Canterbury College

I must say that there are a lot of Bruneians here...so far I've met around 20 of them i think..and I was told there are more of US here..:) And I've met a few Malaysians and Indonesians as well. One of the Indonesians had offered me to stay with her temporarily while I'm waiting for a place to stay..i find that very sweet altho she dont really know me.:)

Anyway, we have just been informed that this Friday theres going to be a Brunei Malaysian Society get together... so hopefully by then I will get to know them better..:)..will update!!

And do u guys know c Rahman..anak uncle Azahari and aunty Fatima..is studying here as well. Hes in the 2nd year...hes all grown up now with a beard..hehe.. and still friendly as usual...:)

Anyway, thats it for now. Just a brief update about different stuff :)
Hi guys,

My first lecture yesterday went well... it was just abrief introduction to the course and we had to introduce ourselves to the whole class.

Compared to yesterday where most of them are locals except a few from Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Thailand. I had a more interesting lecture/seminar today...it was a small class of 10 ppl only...and the most 'international' so far...:)... there was a guy that came from Japan who is only here to do his research although he had completed his PhD, a woman from Korea doing criminology, another one from Taiwan doing Research Methods, an Italian woman doing a one term visit for her PhD and another guy from Nigeria who is the only one whos doing the same course as me..:)

I have to say that the structure and the lecture settings is very different from the undergrads years... its makes me a lil nervous coz the class is very interpersonal... but then, its kinda fun as well as you have the opportunity to get to know them as well thru real conversation...not just omong kosong because ure in the same course.

And I am happy to learn that I am not the only one doing my course...so hopefully I will talk to the nigerian guy soon...although we havent talk to each other yet tadi.. :)

From the course outline..things looks good although I'm trying to keep in mind that I will need to put in more effort to score well..but I'm not feeling the pressure yet..the info still kinda go in and out of ur mind..hehe..but Im trying to auto setup my mind to study...so ive attempt to read two chapters yesterday for one of the modules...so far ok lah, ive read a chapter...another one to go.. :)

(This is the blog that should have been up a few nights ago…just found out what went wrong although I don’t see why it should happened)

Update since I’ve arrived at London

Arrived at Heathrow Airport: 17th September 2006

Overall, the flight was fine despite one bumpy landing masa di Dubai, and the poor choices of movie available on-air which made the journey dull-er. I only managed to watch two of the movies out of the long hours.

Then when we touch down at the Airport...it was hectic especially when we had to go to different counters for our med-check up to be authorize by them. On top of the different instruction that was given to us, the queue was long and I was feeling extremely hot..although I remain quiet..coz ngalih sudah kan becakap.

And the unfortunate part was...that particualr morning there was a security dog there..and it kept on smelling and licking two of the Bruneians luggage, so they had to go to the security and open up their luggage. kedapatan tia banyak makanan tin. They had to get rid of the sardines and corned-beef (however u spell it). Kesian lah...I don't even remember if they had to pay for excess baggage due to the canned food. But still pity them though. Other than that, everything else went well.

The whole week has been a tiring week for me. Had lots to settle since I’ve arrive at Kent. Upon arrival, I found out that they don’t have available rooms for postgraduates, although I’ve booked online like a month ago. Nasib jua I bought a return ticket to Brunei Hall as I only wanted to check whether theres a room for me or not di ParkWood since the office never responded to any of the emails I sent them.

Anyway, after days of sleeping over at Dora’s place and nagging the Accommodation Office everyday for a room which they asked me to wait till next week incase there are any, I decided that I better find myself a room elsewhere since the Accommodation Office cant guarantee me anything.

After days of searching and contacting different ppl, I've finally found a room off campus at the City Centre. And if everything goes well, I will move in earliest by Tuesday and latest by Thursday. Yay!!

Its a proper house with 4 bedrooms, one small living room, kitchen and a backyard... 2 of the rooms are taken by us ( Jirin and I) and the other 2 rooms..we have yet to wait and see..:).. will give more detail abt it soon.

Anyway, I think that’s the only update for now. There are more stories...such as what had happened on the plane on the way from Dubai to UK (which kak nana will like...try to guess kak), then had lunch with Idot di London etc... but will update next time.

I got to go now. I am really sleepy. Nighty nyte.
Yay!! It works..hehe...now lets try if i can re-post the stuff Ive typed two nights ago. Hold on ah. I will put it at the next blog.

:)
Hi guys,

Lets try if this work. If this work, then i know what went wrong...but if this does not appear on my blog, then i dont know what went wrong. hmm. fingers cross till will work.

Yay!!!... out of boredom and because I cnt sleep... finally im able to insert the links and tagboard into the blog. Time consuming but worth it..:)

I'm impressed with myself considering I'm IT illiterate..hehe.. 'puji diri lah'... but i do need help to make the tagboard 'lawa'. This one is too plain and at the moment I'm too lazy to search again.

Anyway, thats all for now. I'm off to bed.
Heya all...

This is just a try out to see if I am able to express myself in words and keep this blog updated.
I can't promise how long this blog will survive...as I am not brilliant in expressing myself but hopefully it will last :)

And throughout the entire process, you will probably laugh...cry... or thinking what the hell am I talking about... or even get bored to death... but either ways... do enjoy urself getting to know 'me'....;)

With that, I'd say welcome to my blog and have a brilliant or dull time reading the ups and downs and different sides of Balsy World ;)

Signing off,
Reachingout :)
